Endowment - The First Respondants The First Respondants: These are local units within the Civil Fire Department Units, financed by the local comunity through the Mayor's Offices in the covered areas. They consist of a emergency mobile unit equipped with first-aid equipment and with a semiautomatic defibrilator which allows performing CPR by the firemen, in case of a cardio-respiratory arrest. In the present, in Mures County, there are two such units, one situated in Ibanesti, covering Ibanesti, Hodac and Gurghiu and another situated at Sovata, covering Sovata resort and the surroundings. The crew is made of at least of two first-aid special trained people. The First Respondants are responsible of giving the necessary assistance and of transporting the victim to the nearest hospital, or to start first-aid while waiting for a mobile resuscitation unit from SMURD, which can be either a road vehicle or a helicopter, or sometimes, a County Ambulance.
