Founded in 1985, the Mures County Hospital has 1,200 beds, serving in most of the medical and surgical specialties. As follows, within the hospital there are the clinics of Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedy, Anaesthesyology and Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Radiology (which is endowed with a computer-tomograph) and recently, magnetic resonance, nuclear medicine as well as a central laboratory and the Morphopathology Centre.
         The hospital hosts, from the medical point of vue, the Emergency Department and SMURD.
         The population this hospital serves, considered to be a reference hospital for several specialties, includes the population of the Mures, Sibiu, Harghita, Covasna and Brasov Counties and comes to more than 2,000,000 people.
