"The SMURD, under the leadership of Dr. Raed ARAFAT is, in my opinion, one of the most efficient and highly appreciated public services in the Mures County. I hope that, by initiating a law in this field, the positive experience of the Mures County will be extended nationwide.
               Even more, the positive appreciation have come and from specialized services abroad, and the recent visits that foreign ambassadors acredited in Bucharest are yet another proof of the positive appreciation of SMURD
              I wouldn't want to end this interview without outlining Dr. ARAFAT's recent innitiatives concerning the Integrated Emergency Dispatch (112) and the Toxicology Information Centre, which is unique in the country.
              To conclude, SMURD has the Prefect's Office entire support for the activity so useful and efficient for the county population."

               "SMURD has functioned in the Mures County with the support of the local authorities, of the County Council, which, while not being able of a very sustained financial support, from the moral point of vue has stood always by the side of this service, and in MArch 1997, by adopting a decision, has managed to contribute to the legalization of this activity in the sense of the modality of payment of those who have worked voluntarily for years in this high professional level service.
              We are sure, both the County Council and myself, that this service has given us all an example of putting together a very useful service. In the development area no. 7 - Center, which includes other six counties beside Mures - Alba, Brasov, Covasna, Harghita and Sibiu - my colleagues, the Presidents of the other County Councils and all the other public administration workers have come to an agreement on supporting the project of prviding an intervention helicopter to cover all this area, for all the special cases that might come up. Such interventions have already taken place, we hope that there won't be a large number of interventions; yet we want to make sure that such interventions are possible, in order to save endangered human lives. "

              "The SMURD's activity in cooperation with the Mayor's Office can constitute an example of a done job, that's working.
              There's no use in talking about the system's usefulness, because the facts are absolutely clear. Instead, I want to say that this project was started with a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of passion, both on behalf of Dr. ARAFAT and the local authorities, that we care a lot for this project and that I think that it can constitute an example for other local authorities.
              I insist once more on the fact that, most of all, you have to have a lot of willpower in order to create such a system, and the system's usefulness is clearly appreciated by the citizens' poll on this subject; the citizens see SMURD necessary and are willing to support it."

           "This Department, of which SMURD is a part, has tried, ongoing, to adapt to the new requirements concerning personal safety. Personal safety in the way of providing the necessary assistance when the person's life is in danger.
          With support from abroad, especially from the Scottish Firemen, but we can't forget to mention our Norwegian friends, the Italien Firemen, the German Firemen and the French Firemen, we managed to obtain a satisfying endowment which ensures qualified interventions in traffic accidents, fires and any other event at which this Department is called to intervene."

               "The County Clinical Hospital is the medical reference institution; here are working the majority of the teaching staff of the Medicine and Pharmacy University of the city placed on the upper side of Mures river.
              The SMURD, founded with the County Hospital for the first time 10 years ago and which later on has extended to other medical centres in the country, has done nothis else but to make the hospital wokr down in the street, to make the patients benefit of a high level, both morally and professionally, service, with a high level of equipment. Serving this purpose, the hospital uses a helicopter which helps transporting the patients from various corners of this area and of this country."
