Methodological Appendix
- Instruments
The questionnaire, here appended, was applied for 12 days, starting January 29, 2001 until February 9, 2001.
The surveyed area was the Tg. Mures city area, the inquirers using the "door to door" technique, as well as the "direct approach" technique in the street, the citizen's cooperation being benevolant.
After explaining the purpose of the social study performed by MPR REASERCH SRL, the questionnaire was covered. The average duration of this survey was of about 10 minutes.

Population Sample
The population sample was chosen taking in consideration 3 variables:
- Statistical Criteria
The size of the population sample recommended by the researchers was of 700 from the entire city. This figure was obtained using the Ioan RADU method ("Phychological Methodology and Data Analysys", The Sincron Publishers, Cluj-Napoca, 1993), according to which the error range would have been of ±2.5%, and the significance threshold p<0.05, being highly significative according to the same source.
The valid population sample was of 658 subjects. The significance threshold stayed under p<0.05, but the error range raised to ±3%.
Observation:
- the threshold or the significance level "p" is the risc of making a mistake when we assert one thing or another. ("Phychological Methodology and Data Analysys", The Sincron Publishers, Cluj-Napoca, 1993, page 85)
- the error range is the figure assumed by the researcher which indicates the nearest interval to contain the real value of the researched variable.
-

The distribution was realized keeping in mind the number of inhabitants in each city area, respectively:

Sex And Nationality
were considered to be of no relevance to this study, the issues of emergency medical services having no connection whatsoever.
-
The Methods Used For Data Processing
All formulas used to calculate indices, quotas, frequences, distributions and correlations between various variables were manipulated manually and computerized.
