Emergency interventions vehicle for multiple victims’ accidents and natural disasters
In May 2006 through a EUR 280.000 sponsorship from Vodafone Romania, SMURD acquired an emergency interventions truck for multiple victim’s accidents and natural disasters. This is the most complex rescue solution available in Romania and the first one of its kind.
The truck and its medical staff can offer immediate medical assistance to minimum 50 persons, in case of multiple victims’ accident (airplane crash, bus accident, a derailed train), natural calamities (floods, earthquake). The truck contains: medical equipment to ensure and monitor vital signs, heavy extrication equipment, blankets and tents sheltering minimum 50 persons, intensive therapy beds, heating systems, communications equipment, illuminating system and power generator, water collector, and other special equipments. The emergency truck can be sent to the accident/disaster site following the order of National 112 Dispatch and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. At the same time, an emergency command dispatch is immediately being created, keeping in touch with the Ministry of Administration and Interior, hospitals, firemen and doctors teams.
“We are very glad that, thanks to Vodafone Romania’s support, we were able to acquire this complex equipment that significantly improve our response capacity to natural disasters, multiple victims accidents and other emergency situations” – Dr. Raed Arafat, SMURD Coordinator
